About Me
Blending into Their World
I am first and foremost drawn to people. For as long as I can remember, I have been fascinated by lives and cultures different from my own. To me, a true portrait is never just an image—it is the result of trust.
Good portraits are built on the silent bond between photographer and subject. That bond takes time. I spend days—sometimes longer—within the environments of the people I photograph, allowing myself to blend into their world. Only by being present, patient, and respectful can I hope to capture something real.
I always work alone in these settings. Entering another person’s life with a team or entourage would feel like an intrusion. To approach quietly, to give time and attention, to earn trust—that is essential. Children, with their openness and playfulness, often invite the camera more easily. Adults, understandably, are more guarded. Both, however, deserve the same respect, and both require a photographer to move past barriers of skepticism or shyness before a genuine moment can emerge.
Photography, for me, is about these moments of connection. What matters is not only what I see through the lens, but also what I am allowed to share of another person’s story—honest, unposed, and true to the life they live.
